About This Lesson

Image one is of a British Town Hall, incorporating courts and civic offices built in 1841. It was built in the classical style of buildings from Ancient Greece, as an acknowledgement of democratic government. Image two is a Victorian Police Station ans the main entrance has ‘Police Station’ carved above it and internal doors have ‘Magistrates’ and ‘Solicitors’ above them. It was designed in 1896, by John Cresswell, the County Architect in a Free Gothic style. Use the attached webpage for further images of Victorian buildings.

JPG link does not work for police department. Could also be used in 7th grade to show Ancient Greek inspiration in architecture.
