About This Lesson

Over 800 abbeys in Britain were closed down by Henry VIII at the Dissolution. This book informs teachers about the buildings needed by these highly organized, often self-sufficient, communities and shows how to make the best educational use of the remaining structures with students of all ages.

The book PDF does make a disclaimer that it might be outdated (and it is--1992) so be aware that you may need to update some of the resources. This is geared towards British teachers but the information can easily be adapted for U.S. classroom curriculum. For example, it can be used grade 7- The Middle Ages. However, I would not suggest giving this content directly to middle school students because the reading level would be too high.
