About This Lesson
Nice mini investigation with a surprising result. Used as a consolidation lesson to probability. Students are asked to walk around the room randomly to the music of 'Jackson Five- ABC'. Then when the music stops get into groups of five. Each group then compares Birth Months. If a group has at least one pair with equal Birth Months they raise their hands. Doing this numerous times gives us ome data which we can then evaluate to find the probability of the Birth Month being the same. the result is surprisingly close to 0.6 if the memory recalls correctly.
