About This Lesson

Students will use Harry Fonseca’s painting Shuffle Off to Buffalo to explore what Fonseca meant by “living in both worlds” and how that applies to students’ own lives. They will look at stereotypes and external and internal factors affecting their concept of “self.” After discuss will create their own painting.

I will use this lesson. I like how it shows the students a new way to look at symbolism.

I will gladly using this lesson to teach symbolism. Being a third grade teacher this lesson would work well in my DI groups.
