About This Lesson

In this lesson students analyze the Virginia Declaration of rights, quotes from John Locke and Montesquieu, and quotes from the U.S. Constitution. They will create document map to show the influence of philosophical ideas on the Declaration of Rights and the influence of the Declaration of Rights on the U.S. Constitution. Along the way, students will also realize how ideas from political philosophers are also evident in the Constitution.
