About This Lesson
This lesson plan is designed to provide middle school students with an understanding of the state of the nation and the sequence of events as the Civil War broke including South Carolina's reason for secession up to the First Battle of Manassas. This lesson plan is aligned to Common Core and National Council for the Social Studies standards and has been endorsed by the History Channel.
