About This Lesson

This mock trial puts four groups on trial for environmental pollution in the U.S. There are 20 roles for students to take on from lawyers to witnesses. The teacher has a script to read that takes the class from the start to finish- where they vote who was responsible for the damage and who should be responsible for finding a solution.

Based off the groundbreaking article from the Guardian and the Center for Investigative Reporting, students are encouraged to become advocates for the earth and post their work on Instagram #toxictrail. For more information visit http://to.pbs.org/PIO7Oy
