but I made it more advanced for 10th graders. It explains the encomienda system using a Bartolome de las Casas quote and a woodcut of natives working for Spanish masters. After it asks students "how does the encomienda resemble manorialism"? and asks them to prove the claim "The purpose of the encomienda system was to obtain labor and taxes from the native peoples in the Spanish colonies."
