Join Brian Smith from Newton-Conover City Schools and Share My Lesson for a webinar on supporting students with Dyslexia.
The latest data shows that 1 in 5 students could have dyslexia. What are the red flags of dyslexia - it's more than reversing b and d - and if it is dyslexia, how can you help? There is a lot of information to learn about dyslexia and easy to implement strategies that could really benefit students who struggle with reading difficulties.
Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.
Share My Lesson is now a New York State Education Department-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements and an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development provider.
When you click on the "register" button, it will bring you to the page to register for the webinar. It will launch automatically at that point, and then you should also be able to get your certificate.
Hi, Rosie008. Once you're logged in, click on the "register" link next to the ppt. You'll have to re-register for the webinar in order to hear the presentation from Brian. I hope this helps!
I have not attended this webinar yet, but the email I received mentioned free professional development worth 1 hour. I checked and my state, Washington, does not approve Share My Lesson for professional development. Is there another name that might be registered with Washington State? I would love to receive credit for the webinar.
Don't know about being registered with the state but there are two things to try: (1) Perhaps American Federation of Teachers (AFT), as they sponsor this site, is recognized by WA; (2) In OR, many districts allow you to create your own PD, simply by printing out the description and certificate/program, etc., and getting it approved by your HR department.
Brian talks about a lot of indicators that might help teachers see the success of a student while they work with the small part that students are unable to do.
I was listening to the webinar playback, and about midway through (slide 12), it started over again! Not sure what happened. I don't know how to fast forward to get back to where it cut out. Is there a way to fast forward? Also, for future reference, is there a way to pause a webinar that's being replayed?

I missed the conference because of the last minute time change and downloaded the PPT presentation. It was a good overview; however, Brian's comments & any discussions would have made it much more worth while.
