About This Lesson
SEL competencies self-awareness social awareness will be employed in this dynamic lesson where students will be learning about vehicle purchases. Students will be placed in groups of 4 to collaborate to create a Teen Automobile Buyer’s Guide. Students will be given a handout for directions for the Automobile Buyer’s Guide. They must choose from one of the following four roles for this activity: Researcher and Printer; Reader and Highlighter of important Facts from the Researcher’s printouts; Drafter (someone who types up a draft of the Automobile Buying Guide); and Editor and Publisher. Teacher will give each student a Collaborative Rubric so that students know what is expected of them while working in groups. After each group has prepared an Automobile Buyer’s Guide, give each student an Exit Ticket where students must discuss which role they played in their group and how well they think they did in that role.
