About This Lesson

Days after the 9/11 attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush took actions which would lead to both military and intelligence operations being launched in Afghanistan against al-Qaeda. The U.S., however, was not alone in this fight to eliminate terrorism. Use this lesson plan to explore the question: How did other nations assist the United States in the immediate search for Osama bin Laden?

In this lesson, students will:

  • Examine the United States' immediate response tot he 9/11 attacks.
  • Discuss the importance of international cooperation when fighting terrorism.
