Johanna Dobbs is a Sign Language Interpreter, currently servicing students in the US Virgin Islands, through the Department of Education, via the Division of Special Services. She has rendered interpreting services in various locations across the US and facilitated communication in the K-12 public school setting for deaf and nonverbal students, that use sign language and visual gestures communication as their primary mode of communication. Her ultimate goal is for parents, teachers and administrators and the greater hearing community is to understand that role of the interpreter in the students academic setting is paramount. When you silence the interpreter, you remove the student's voice. Let's work together and give communication equity to each student.
