About This Lesson

Do YOUR students have what it takes to survive a disaster? Extreme Event game gives students a taste of what it takes to build community resilience in the face of disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes and floods. Players work together to make decisions and solve problems during an engaging, fast-paced disaster simulation.

All you need is 1 hour, 12-48 players, and some printable materials you can download for FREE at Extreme-Event.org

Students practice critical thinking, building coalitions, prioritizing resources and adapting to change. It's a great way to pick up some STEM knowledge while also practicing social and emotional learning skills such as effective communication. The game includes a discussion guide and post-game handout to drive home key lessons.
