<p>Imagine picking up a bow and some arrows and attempting to hit the target a few times. Can you work out the settings for the sight that give you the best chance of gaining a high score?</p>Aligned to Common Core State Standard: 6.NS.6, 7.RP.2, 8.EE.8

Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.
Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.

Another nice n-rich task which could be used for the teaching of trial and error, sampling and data handling. It allows the pupils to shoot some arrows at a target and adjust the sights to try and score a better score. I like this because the link comes with teacher notes and solutions for ease of planning.

Great way to practice coordinate grids
