About This Lesson

Spoken word artist and creative arts coordinator, Lydia Towsey, explains how art can help with mental health problems. In her job she provides opportunities for artists who want to work with people who have mental health problems. She says that art is therapy not therapeutic meaning that they work on skills development and
social inclusion, inspiring a sense of belonging and self-worth. Having had an eating disorder herself, she says that her engagement with art helped her recovery.
