About This Lesson
Mark Sladen of the ICA on artists making statements about the world in their work. He says that not all art reflects urgent issues of the day, but that it has the ability to reflect social and political issues in a powerful way. He adds that art doesn’t often introduce new debates, but that good art can crystallise thinking about contemporary concerns.
