About This Lesson

This assembly introduces human rights by exploring what freedom is and is not. It then highlights the importance of human rights by explaining that they were created to prevent the awful atrocities of the holocaust from ever happening again. The Human Rights Act is introduced to make students aware that laws exist to help to protect their human rights. This assembly is part of the Equal Rights; Equal Respect teacher training and education resource from the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
