About This Lesson

STEAM and its application to K–12 classrooms highlight the relationship between artistic, mathematical, and engineering practice. Artworks from LACMA can provide the basis for lesson plans that have the potential to broaden student thinking in all of these subjects. The key question addressed in this packet is: How do artists connect math, engineering, and technology to make art? This curriculum connects initiatives that cross into the museum and the classroom by placing art- works in conversation with what are often considered “hard” subjects.
