Activity
Introduction (15 minutes)
- Introduce Canva and its uses.
- Explain the project: Students will create a presentation on a topic of their choice using Canva.
- Give a brief tour of Canva’s interface, highlighting key features such as templates, text tools, images, and design elements.
- Allow students time to think about what topic they would like to select
Designing:
- Students must first decide what type of presentation they want - a slide show, a video, a poster, etc.
- After brainstorming ideas (and possibly drafting them on paper) students should log into accounts and start making designs
- They can use templates and other elements to make their poster more visually appealing and highlight the topic of their choice
Presenting:
- Have the students briefly practice presenting with scripts and support of feedback from teachers or small groups
- They will then present to the whole class and receive feedback from the teacher and peers
Extra
Tips for Students:
- Choose a topic you are passionate about to make your presentation more engaging.

- Have example posters and presentations for students to look at
- Encourage creativity while emphasizing the importance of clear and effective communication.
- Give guidance when students are looking for information on the internet
Extensions:
- Explore other digital presentation tools and compare them to Canva in terms of features and usability.
- Integrate a math lesson by having students calculate the total cost of materials used in their bridge construction
