Watch Supriya Shivakumar, Ph.D., Marketing Manager for the Functional Genomics Initiative of Sigma Aldrich, a St. Louis based chemical company, discuss her early interest in Genetics and some of the exciting breakthroughs in the treatment of disease. We learn about Zinc Finger Technology and the important functioning of the CCR5 gene. She completed her PhD at UCSF, jointly conducting research in Wnt signaling in the mouse and in the genetic model system of C. elegans in the laboratories of Nobel Laureate Dr. Harold Varmus and Dr. Cynthia Kenyon at the University of California, San Francisco.
