About This Lesson
SUMMARY: Students use a case study based on a contemporary news story as the foundation for a debate about balancing freedom, security and diversity in today’s world. OBJECTIVE: Students will understand how multiple perspectives have shaped a recent First Amendment controversy and will be able to make connections between complex issues raised by the 9/11 attacks and current events. GRADE LEVEL: Middle and high school, Advanced Placement, college & University TIME: 30 minutes
