About This Lesson

Students are in groups: Castro, Khrushchev, Kennedy, NY Times, Wash. Post, NY Daily News, Pravda (Soviet newspaper), Hoy (Cuban newspaper), and Revolucion (Cuban newspaper). Politicians run a Cuban Missile Crisis simulation and explain how their choices resulted by using http://library.thinkquest.org/18355/the_cuban_missile_crisis_simul.html, while journalists make questions to ask at the post Simulation Press Conference. There is a modification of the simulation for younger grades or lower achieving students that has students act as all 3 political roles with no press conference aspect.
