About This Lesson

This is a 6 page document with Excerpts from the diaries of both Vasco da Gama and Christopher Columbus. Da Gama's diary is just excerpts from when he is in Calicut India, and Columbus' is excerpts from the sea voyage and his first 3 days in the Caribbean. The assignment is for students to code and annotate for perspectives, motives, and biases and then summarize them at the end in a 3 columns chart. Numerous footnotes are added to help students with challenging, unusual, or archaic vocabulary.
