About This Lesson

Sherise explains how her mother’s father is from Pakistan whereas her father’s father is Jamaican. As a result, she feels part of a shared culture manifest in food, music, traditions – between which she can switch effortlessly. Her parents Mark and Shanaz are consequently accepting of her mixed race boyfriend who is Asian and White, Arab and Arab African. Shanaz has a very positive view of being part of a mixed marriage although her Pakistani grandfather was initially less accepting.
