About This Lesson

Dress designer Ruth Schneider grew up in Vienna but never felt any anti-semitism until Hitler came to power. She describes being punched by a boy from the Hitler Youth and how her family were able to escape the city because of a tip-off from a Nazi sympathiser. Ruth came to England with her family and was kept in Holloway prison as an enemy alien.

This is a good resource as it is a young person asking the questions. There is an honesty to the resource and the testimony that can sometimes be lost in overly produced videos. Will engage the vast majority of students.
