About This Lesson

This article describes the history of Iran's oil and how the British formed the Anglo-Iranian oil company, then there are documents showing the British and Iranian point of view about Iran's oil, then a description of how Imperialism and decolonization worked in terms of the foreign businesses in former colonies, what it means to "nationalize" a foreign business, how Mohammad Mossadegh tried to nationalize Iran's oil, and what the C.I.A. did to Mossadegh. Students are given tasks in each part of the handout.
