About This Lesson

Use this lesson plan to introduce students to the richness and diversity of Jewish life across Europe at the time of the Nazis’ ascension to power.

The lesson features a photo-analysis activity that will help students get a sense of what “everyday” Jewish life in eastern Europe was like in the 1920s and 1930s.

This lesson is part of the Teaching Holocaust and Human Behavior unit.
