About This Lesson

Students will be able to describe what an engineer does and apply the engineering process to design a contraption with the given materials that can travel at least two feet down an incline plane.

Standards

Measure and record lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Make a line plot with the data, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units—whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence of the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces on the motion of an object.
Make observations and/or measurements of an object's motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion.
