About This Lesson
This is a fun way to practice reading sight words. Each student draws six words from a pile of sight words and places them on the scarecrow gameboard. Students take turns shaking a die and reading the word that is on that number. If the child can read the word, he/she can keep the word and replaces the word with a new word from the draw pile. If the child doesn't know the word, classmates can say the word but the word remains on the gameboard. Copy and laminate a gameboard for each child and 6 sets of sight words on cardstock paper. The child with the most pairs wins.
