This film explores how science can enhance humans from conception to reducing the effects of aging, along with the ethical implications of such interventions. In terms of ‘designer babies’ a ‘careless phrase’, genetic
engineering enables scientists to design out genes that carry disease.
Lots of opportunities for debate! Really useful. Pupils could chose whose side they are on and justify their reasons. Pupils struggle on long questions with ethics in the exams. They need to learn that there is more than one side of the story and that conclusions have to be made. This is a good opportunity to practise this!
