About This Lesson

Enclosed is a unit plan that focuses specifically on various social issues as they relate to various aspects of U.S. History. The lessons are aligned with California Common Core Standards and based primarily on Universal Design in Learning, Constructivist, and Behaviorist approaches. As this is an ever-evolving document, feedback is welcomed.  With that, you may want to create your own copy to add, remove, or expand on certain aspects of this unit plan. Currently, I am attempting to work out several formatting issues with tables in my document, increasing the amount of material that reflects culturally responsive pedagogy, and creating additional original materials to go with  each lesson.

Standards

Evaluate a speaker’s point of view, reasoning, and use of evidence and rhetoric, assessing the stance, premises, links among ideas, word choice, points of emphasis, and tone used.
Integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) in order to make informed decisions and solve problems, evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source and noting any discrepancies among the data.
Make strategic use of digital media (e.g., textual, graphical, audio, visual, and interactive elements) in presentations to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest.
