About This Lesson
Bored of the usual twenty spellings? I use this to tackle those words the students need to work on. Students choose 5 incorrect spellings from their exercise book. Each correct spelling should be written in a square on the sheet. Repeat each word ten times in random order. At the beginning of the lesson students pair up to test each other. The aim is to see how many they can spell correctly in one min. They then compete to beat their score each day. Makes spelling more relevant and the competitive element makes it hugely motivating (especially for boys).
