This book is for teachers wanting to improve their ability to plan visits to historic houses so that their pupils enjoy the experience and develop ways of learning from the rich resources. It covers houses from the medieval period onwards.
The book PDF does make a disclaimer that it might be outdated so be aware that you may need to update some of the resources. This is geared towards British teachers but the information can easily be adapted for U.S. classroom curriculum. For example, the ideas on how to prepare a student for a field trip to a historic home. However, I would not suggest giving this content directly to middle school students because the reading level would be too high.
