This lesson has GREAT formative assessment activities attached as well as forms for students to monitor their own effort/ development. I suggest looking at it for inspiration.
It is highly unlikely in an American classroom that a teacher would spend a whole semester learning about Troy, however, sections of this lesson could definitely be used. The standards are aligned for British schools and would need to be changed for an American classroom.
