C. As fit as before
I am more fit because I went KETO last year in November and dropped 35 pounds.
Wow, 35 pounds is a lot! Now the challenge is to keep it off, right?
By popular demand, I will teach another health and wellness class on Thurs, January 27 at 5:30. Be sure to register! https://sharemylesson.com/teaching-resource/total-body-fitness-re-energ…
Share one teacher/student relationship building skill you are good at.
Name one relationship skill that is an area for growth for you.

Really Listening to students when they talk and want to share.
I am good at connecting with common interests. I love graphic novels and so do a lot of my students.
I love to laugh with my students and be a tad silly so they know I an only human!
Strong relationships are needed now more than ever. Students basically only go to school and then go home. Their time with friends and extended family is cut to bare minimum. Students need interaction while at school and they need us to care, inquire, and be there. Our role as teachers who build relationships with students is greater now than before the pandemic.
Oh gosh, we are all reaching out and supporting one another through these difficult times. Smiles are free, give them away during class and you will get them right back!
I take time after school to go out and enjoy what is left of the day.
I sit outside, watch my dogs play and just relax.

I walk 2 miles a day and do 26 minutes of Pilates a day.
What is your Word of the Year? Are you noticeably less active but not comfortable going back to the gym and the weather outside isn't cooperating for exercising outside? Are you surprised to find you were inducted (unwillingly) into the Quarantine-15 Club
? Don't give up...fight back instead. It isn't too early to start a new year revolution! Need motivation? Read this article (https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/solutions/2020/09/17/exercise-diet-…). Rather then set a resolution that 88% of the time doesn't get filled (too vague, no clearly stated or achievable goals/plan in place), join me in choosing one word that will guide your actions throughout the upcoming year. Each time you are faced with a choice, invoke your word and evaluate your decisions in the context of the word until it becomes a habit. Your word can be a noun, verb, adjective or adverb. Here are some suggestions: courage, adapt, persevere, change, joy, consistent, commit, develop, dare, risk, self, believe, etc.

The word I chose is Balance. I find I am spending too much time working and not enough enjoying, relaxing, and doing the things I like. Because I am working remotely, it is so easy to jump back on the computer in the evening or answer emails/calls on my cell phone over the weekend. After dinner, I tend to sit on the couch eating dessert and watching TV until I go to bed. I want to balance my time better to incorporate exercise in more often. I walk a lot during the day thanks to my Dalmatian grandpuppy, but I want to get back on my indoor back 3x a week. Rather than eating dessert every night, I am going to balance it by eating a Greek yogurt in a flavor I like. My menus will be balanced as well: salads for four meals per week instead of high caloric dishes with cream sauces. The key is to balance so I don't feel deprived. Like a see-saw, I will go gradually so I see progress over time.
I am choosing Consisten this year. I am going to be consistent on scheduling time for family, work, exercise, and daily routines that have gone awry this past year.
That is a great word, Sarah. Like the tortoise, slow and steady wins the race. It is such a great practice to actually schedule these times in your calendar. That way they have a better chance of happening.
I just attended a live ZOOM class on the art of breathing.
It helped me to relax and destress.

I wish they knew and appreciate the many hours we put into doing our jobs to bring our lessons to life online.
We are parents, too. We are concerned we are being poor caretakers of our own biological children.
I wish people knew how hard it is to teach students that are in the classroom at the same time as we are teaching ones at home. I feel so bad for those that are fully online (not in hybrid) because they never get the extra attention that those in the room receive. I wish I could give them more time and energy, but there just isn't any left to spare!!
