About This Lesson
This resource is a current event informational text story on Jared Cassedy, a music teacher at Windham High School in Windham, New Hampshire. From more than 7,000 nominations, Jared was named the winner of the 2015 GRAMMY Music Educator Award. Through a press release and SNN's interview with Jared, the story summarizes Jared's student centered approach to teaching. Following the story, students are asked to interpret quotes in the story and then asked to write essays regarding their personal connection to music and the music industry.
