About This Lesson

Students will become familiar with the Rio Grande style petroglyphs located at Petroglyph National Monement on the Westside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Students will be able to recognize these images and symbols that form a specific type of communication among Ancestral Puebloans of the the Albuquerque area. Students will then be able to create their own petroglyphs that symbolize something important in their own culture.
